Default 17 inch conversion

I know this has been covered before - but I have tried the new search feature - and obviously I am to stupid to come up with the correct search string.

I have an 86 with a ZZ4 and a T500. I will be running autocross and road racing - so it seems to me the next upgrade will be to 17 inch wheels -

I want to go simple here - preferably no spacers and flaring - etc. what size 17 inchers will bolt on - and where can I get a set of servicable rims (don't need to be fancy - just used on the track!

Thanks for the input!

AFS Wheels has 17 inch ZR-1 style wheels with the proper 38mm offset for 84-87 cars. These wheels will fit properly in the wheelwells and allow the use of 275/40 or 285/40-17 tires with no flares or clearance problems.

Go to www.afswheels.com or you can find them on eBay by searching for Corvette Wheels or AFS Wheels. There are some good deals through them on eBay but they are a popular wheel so you may have to find a "Buy-it-Now" listing or hope you don't get sniped.

I bought a set directly from AFS for my 87. The have "blemished" sets and the prices are pretty good and they usually give you free shipping. The blems I got had a couple of pencil-tip sized dots in the black paint, otherwise they were what I would have considered as first-quality.

Some racing sanctioning organizations won't allow the use of adapters or spacers, so getting wheels with the proper offset solves this.

Going with 17's will also allow the use of the later 13" J55 brakes or C5 brakes with no clearance issues.
