Does anyone have any dyno graphs for the horsepower gains going from stock manifold to shorty or long tubes?
Question is due to the fact that a Mustang owner friend of mine went from his manifolds to shorties cuz he heard the long tubes only gave him like 5-6 hp and 7-8 tq increase, and he figured it wasn't worth the extra money to change his h-pipe for. He already had an "aftermarket" exhaust with h-pipe in it and he still wants to use it, and if he went long tubes he said he couldn't use it anymore and would have to get something else.
So, would he only gain like 5 hp and 7 tq from long tubes over shorties?
We are talking about a 5.0 L engine here, but what would the difference be on a 350 or say a 383?
I just installed my longtubes. I didn't notice much difference really. I don't think a few horses will give you that seat of the pants feel either way. I'd recommend longtubes over shorties (as I think anyone well) but really, there is not a huge difference. Maybe if you are planning 383, etc down the road....
actually the way i heard it is there isnt a whole lot of diff in factory and shortys as opposed to factory and long tubes.over all long tubes will yeild the most gains. why by one piece of cake instead of the whole thing. plus future upgrades will proble require them.
