I had some previous problems with my PKE acting up with the doors locking randomly and making strange noises, I turned the PKE off, and the problem stopped. Yesterday, I was driving about 35 and the doors locke, and then the hatch opened BY ITSELF. It scared me to say the least. Any ideas as to what this may be from ? Anything to do besides yanking the whole PKE module out of the car ? I pulled the PKE fuse out, but am unsure of where to proceed from here as the PKE light came on, and it started to lock and unlock the doors while the car was running.
My 86 would open the hatch at random times. Maybe every 3 months. It didnt care if I was doing 70 on the parkway. I took a shoelace and made a safety catch. Tied it to the latch and made a loop go around the part on the glass. That way it could only pop up 2 inches or so.
I've had the same problem zipping down the freeway. I think it could be spurious radio signals because it happened in a construction zone (crews use radio equipment). Turning off the car usually will reset everything.
Very strange, I had a friend suggest that I disconnect the power from the latch that opens the hatch, so I may end up going that route. I didn't think the car should be able to respond to the transmitter or any signal while you are driving. So I guess I am going to pull the PKE module out, and see what happens. Does anyone know where the other fuse for the PKE is right off hand ? I remember there being one in the dash fuse panel and one somewheres else.
