Default Best Crank Pulley

While pulling my Crank Pulley center piece today, I managed to completely pull the threads out of one of the outer 3 holes. Since the other ones don't look all that great I decided I'll replace the pulley while I got it off. Now my question:

I was originally thinking just get another stock one but I have a feeling a good aftermarket one will be less expensive. Possibly better?

I've seen a couple of underdrive pulleys. Anyone running one they'd recommend? Haven't had any problems with it? Is it easier to install/remove than the stock one? Do you have to pull the whole thing to replace the opti or is it two piece like the stock one? I idle above 800rpms so I would have to worry about going under a full charge mode. Probably be close to 900-950rpms with the new program.

Edit:

Oh, and the motor is internally balanced and the crank isn't keyed. Though it looks as if one could be added.

I'm confused, what did you pull the threads out of? The pulley itself just has holes and bolts to the harmonic damper.

okay, so it was the damper I pulled the threads out. The stock piece it 2 parts. I took the bolts out and knocked the pulley off like you would to do an opti. Then I tried to pull the center piece off the crank and pulled the threads clean out of 1 of the 3 holes.

I'm in the midst of trying to find out the best damper myself. Good luck.

Yeah, I noticed it seems we posted about the same thing at the same time. I leaning towards one of the ASP underdrive ones from Thunder Racing. http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...vid=11&pcid=14

I'd just like to hear from some people that actually use them.

The damper on the LT1/LT4 is a two-piece assembly.

The damper bolts to the hub by three bolts, and the bolt holes are not evenly spaced, so the damper can only bolt on the hub one way.
In additiion, the hub has a "Y" shape so you can, after removing the damper, position the hub to remove the Opti-Spark without removing the hub.
Some aftermarket units don't have a "Y" shape on the hub, this means you would have to remove the hub to remove the Opti-Spark.

Which means in order to remove the opti, you'd have to pull the radiator which isn't necessary with the stock unit.

Guess this is something else to think about.
