Allright guys,
On an 86 coupe - we are very close to completing the swap from the 4+3 to the Tremek 500. Coming from the 4+3 shifter was a cable that headed forward into the center console - from there I don't know where it goes. (maybe hangs a left?)
What is it? does it need to get reconnected to the Tremek?
We did this recently. It goes to the steering column for the transmission park lock feature.
RACE ON!!!
OK - so it engages some sort of lockout so you can't start the car in gear? that can't be right. So now I'm confused!
Whats the function Kenneth? and can I just do away with it?
I just done this also but I went from a stock shifter to the B&M Hammer shifter. In the B&M Instructions it says to take the cable off and push the rod all the way up in the direction of the steering wheel. Secure it there. I put a hose clamp around it to hold it in place. Look at step 1 in the instructions it locks the steering wheel. http://www.bmracing.com/media/products/pdf/5.pdf
