Good luck with the Corvette. My 84 has 167,000 miles and runs strong. All stock. Knock on wood, the engine and trans has been good to me, it's the rest of the car I'm still restoring from the abuse it went through over the last 20 years.
I'm really not into speed, just like to cruise, and believe me the average Joe doesn't know if its a 84 or a 96. When asked is it fast, I tell them I'm doing 9 seconds @180 miles in the 1/4 mile. That's when their eye brows rise!
Enjoy the CORVETTE!

Thanks for the encouragement.

This car is actually pretty new for my taste.

And its funny that bracket racing was brought up.
That was one of the first things that popped into my mind for this car.

One of my other vehicles is a 68 Chevelle 396 4 speed car.
I'm lucky to be within a tenth from run to run with that.

So there is part of the concern, with the miles on this car.
Drag racing even bracket racing is harder on a car than just cruising.

So if I'm going to replace something, its the same work to replace it with something better.

I'm not looking for 12s out of this car (yet).
But a little more than what its got, and trying to keep it simple and reliable are whats important to me.

I've got a wife kids and a mortgage after all.

Still can hardly believe what I got this car for, I passed a hyunda on the way to work today, and thought, "damn I spent half what this fella did and I'm driving a Corvette.

Thanks for the complements, guys. It certainly isn't because I knew what I was doing. I've just tried to apply some basic principles and common sense to a new, to me, platform. This is my first computer car. My first injected car, too. There has been a lot of trial, error, and time expended. Luckily, just not a lot of money expended. It's been a lot of fun and I've learned a lot. I'm pleased with what I've been able to accomplish. Thanks again, and...

RACE ON!!!

These A4 vettes make great bracket cars! Almost every run I make is identical. Even after mods

Don't underestimate the crossfire and don't believe everything you hear about it. Mine is ported stroked to 383 with cowl induction and a built trans. and is generally amoung the fastest few cars at corvette autocross events. I think that the crossfire is limited in its ability to produce horsepower but it'll produce torque like crazy- and torque is what you feel when you drive.
