Default Removing slave valve

I am in the process of removing my engine in my 89. I will decide in the morning if I will remove the trans before I pull the motor or pull it all as one unit. I pulled the exhaust and drive shaft today. My question is do I have to disconnect the hydraulic line before I pull the slave valve or can I remove it connected. This is new to me.

remove the 2 nuts and then the 2 studs that hold the slave in. You can't reach the fitting on the line with the slave installed, and the line is bolted to the firewall somewhere between slave and master. I had to remove the studs in my 89 to get cylinder out because of the stupid 1-4 shift solenoid. There just wasn't enough clearance with the studs in there. shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to remove. Be gentle with the hose, it runs a little over $100 to replace if you breack it.
