Default Pull heads, guess what??

Well, I pull the the heads today. Felpro gasket distorted and coolant/water in side. Looking at the valve cover how nasty that water and oil are mixed. Nasty sludge on the rockers. My cometic gasket shoulod coming soon. I will also replace that ARP head bolts and go with ARP head studs.

Nah, thats a WHEw! just blew a fuse. Needs more fuel, even at 58 psi base pressure it wont support the 14 psi bruce wants. Next time (cometics and studs) that won't happen. 8 psi is about the limit for now. (needs about 100 lbs/hr fuel per cyl to be safe) at the target goal of 22 psi.

Looks like you guys need to hit a dyno. What are you using for a wideband setup? And how are you doing the timing?

My lambdaboy L1h1 wideband, using datamaster. First we need more fuel-then a dyno.

I thought cometic + ARP studs were a given on boosted motors. That could have been very ugly if it sucked more coolant into the oil....

I just installed brand new Felpro 1074's and ARP head bolts is there something I should know about them?

Where do you come up with you figures for the hp the car only went 123.00 mph in the 1/4 mile i was doing that at 420 rwhp so how the hell do you come up with 800 hp.

When you look at the gasket it looks like detonation to me. They stated before that they were short of fuel. That's why the gasket went, not too much horsepower.

However, sleeperz on the camaro forum was running these 1074's at somewhere around 1000hp with his setup. Once you have it in tune I'm sure they would be ok. The problem is getting them tuned right with out haveing any kind of detonation.

.

The car was not making 800hp. But I believed it was in the 600hp range or so because the 50s was maxed out @ 14psi of boost. We lost the head gasket while doing street tuning. After a wot pull on the street the coolant light came on. I ask rick why the coolant light coming on? I ask Rick were you filled up the coolant? He says yes. But we proceed to go to the track any way, while on the way to the track we stop and pick up a 2 gallon of antifreez. When we got to the track and we filling up the coolant and the coolant still coming on. At the that point we already suspect the head gasket has been pushed. We make a shake down passes any way. total 2 pass. The 123mph trap were runing with a pushed head gasket and were only 8psi of boost. We were also loosing boost because the throttle body niple were uncapped. The rubber piece were blow out and lost it and boost is leaking from there.

Haha, 800hp is our GOAL , Im not implying it was making that kind of power. I expect those figures to come in at around 14 psi/6300rpm. We (obviosly by the head gaskets) are running out of fuel well short of that.
Bruce is right though, we knew the motor was hurt on the way down, so we figured, well as long as the wb doest read lean, it can't hurt to make a pass.
Still 123 isn't that bad for a 5 cyl v-8 lol

Rick, I just noticed that Bruce has some rubbing on some of his rocker arms.. it looks like the yellow anodizing has been rubbed off. Is there any connection between that and the bent pushrods..?

While back when I had the head/cam combo. The roller rockers were installed seems to be ok. But when I drop off my motor to Agostino for stroker build up. I stop by to check out the work progress, they shown me the rockers rubbed the retainer, They ask my persmisson to put a 45 degree on both side of the rocker so its will clear the retainers.

Heads are back on, intake is over to the shop. Im gonna weld up the injector bosses today and drill them for 8 more injectors/ 2 more rails.
We'll use his 24's for the mains (good spray pattern/drivability) and the 50's to maintain a/f under boost. By math that should be enough for over 700rwhp.
