Default Any tips on removing the molding

I'm painting my car this month and I started removing the molding, but the bolts just spin as I turn the nut. Any suggestions on how to stop the bolt from turning without destroying the molding?

thanks

I've removed the molding on a couple C4's and I never could come up with a good solution to this. You could try to get a flat head screwdriver behind the molding applying pressure while turning the nut. Be sure to soak them in wd-40 or liquid wrench or something. I tried this but honestly I don't have the patience for that method. The way I found easiest is to just use a dremel tool and cut the nut off, if you accidentally get into the stud here and there and it is unusable it really doesn't matter as long as you don't do 2 beside each other or one on the end, because that stuff is pretty stiff and if you are missing a nut or two in the middle of a run you wont' be able to notice once you get the rest tightened down.

I just did mine and I had to cut almost all the nuts off. I was careful and even though I did scrape a few studs they were still usable. Any of the studs that are turning on you can also be saved with a bit of JB Weld on the back side of it. Just take the small screws out and the metal strip will come out then put the JB Weld on the flat head of the stud and the metal strip.
