I have an 1990 C4 Corvette with a L98 engine in it, As i of now i need new exaust because the after market flowmasters are cracked and have holes in them. Does anyone have any suggestions about what kind of exhaust i should install on my vette? Now keep in mind i want to install an exhaust that is loud and also gets the best performance out of my vette also.Your help and suggestions would be very helpful.
Question****Would the B & B Cat Back Tri-Flow System exhaust be a good exhaust to install onto my vette, and if they are would they be quiet.. sound wise..?
B&B has a system only availible through mid america motorworks. ive heard this system. its very mellow and deep until you nail it then its just loud and low. i like that sound versus ear splitting rasp or crackles at WOT.
aside from that youll need to listen either online or preferrably in person to different systems and see what you like. there are a good number of choices and its all subjective to your taste. well unless corsa made an L98 system then id tell you to get that without a doubt.
If you still have the pre-cats + main cat, I would suggest eliminating the mufflers and running straight pipes. I ran this setup on my 89 for a few years before I did other mods. It's plenty loud when you nail it but still tolerable when cruising. Best of all, you can make your own for 25-30 bucks using pieces you can find at any car parts store. All you need are 2 90 deg. elbows, 2 straight pieces (about 24"), exhaust tips (I used 45 deg. angle cut turndowns), and some clamps.
Which Flowmasters did you have? You said you're looking for loud and I'd probably say that 40 series Flowmasters are about a loud as it gets..........a nice growl at idle and they screammmmmm at WOT.
