Default will removing rear sway bar effect traction?

I want to remove the rear sway bar on my Iroc the next time I go out to the drag strip will it hurt the weight transfer or hurt the traction?

I have a 96 & did that same thing.. I removed my front sway bar.. I was a big help at the track.. & on the street I never missed it at ALL. I should add.. I do NOT really drive it hard in corners on the street.. don't get me wrong I don't drive like an old Lady I do drive spirited & the car handles fine...

I would think is you remove this suspension part, your chassis would flex too much and you'd handle worse than a built 70 Chevelle with skinnies on all fours.

Only by removing a small amount of weight off the rear of the car where you want it most.

one thing to consider is that since it is a rear swaybar you are talking about i would leave it on. Having it on will only help you buy keeping the car level at launch and you wont have to run asmuch preload on the rear to keep it from squatting on only one side. At least that is how i see the situation, besides it seems like all the serious drag cars in mags and the track are even adding it to the rear. Or of course i could be tottaly wrong. good luck and let us know how it goes!

I would think that removing the front one (or disconnecting the end links) would help more than removing the rear. Removing the front will allow better weight transfer which is essential in a RWD car for good traction at launch. Just be carefull on the street if you remove either one. It can make the handling of the car unpredictable if you push it too far.

Probably not, but it will cause your car to handle like crap. It will cause your car to understeer more. More understeer on a car that is already setup to understeer is not good. Unless you like understeer.
