Are you thinking about Hookers or Hedmans? You mention Hookers, but your link is Hedmans. I have Hooker super comps on my car and have been pretty happy with them. There is no problem running your cat as the y-pipe (also available from Hooker) will slip right onto your cat. Some people on here seem to be happy with the Hedmans, but I'd say I've seen far more negatives posted about them then positives. People, however, seem to have pretty positive things to say about Hooker.
I'm pretty sure he intended to say Headman as Hooker doesn't make a line they call "street headers" that I'm aware of. Just comp. and super comp. for our cars. Hedman does though hence the link with headman "street headers".
sorry guys seemed i messed that all to hell. it has been a hell of a day though so it is understandable. I meant the headman, but uf hookers are better please tell me
I love my hooker 2149's. Mine are coated well inside and out and stay very cool. I think hooker has made some improvements because I've heard some complaints about various issues in here that I didn't encounter. I got mine December 2004 and am still happy.
I dont know anything about headmans so I cant say either way.
I don't have headers on my car, but I know how its set up.... here's goes.
The two Headers empty into the front Y pipe... on your car you currently have 2 pre-cats on your front Y pipe and a main cat in the back of the Y pipe. With these headers and after market Y pipe, you will not longer have 2 pre-cats, they are both eliminated but you can keep your stock main cat and it will slip into or onto the back of the after market Y pipe.
Some people will completely eliminate the main cat, but some will buy a high flow main cat, from either ramdom tech or some other companies. I've heard the best is ramdom tech.
So that's it.... its not very complicated, its just expensive after you all add it up.
ok will running these headers limit my head choices? I read something about some heads having angled plugs and these headers being for strait or something?

Unless you have extensive and serious modifications, most bore and stroke, the Hedmans, with their smaller tubes will enhance the power/torque over a wider rpm range. The hook up options for either are very similar, as the headers end at approx the same point and have to be tied into what ever you chose to use behind them. The foot notes at each manufacturer's site explains the angle plug fitment issue, but generally, both fit most angled plug heads. A later change to higher performance heads shouldn't be an issue.
That is my opinion, but some don't agree with me. Do a search. We don't want to open THAT can of worm, again, for a long time. Duals with 2 1/2" pipe ought to be plenty. I'm not sure about a "Y" pipe. 3"? 3 1/2"?
The 2 links you posted of headers and Y pipe are exactly what I have.
The pre cats will be eliminated with headers and the Y pipe is used to go from header collectors to main "free flow " cat and tie it all in. My Y pipe wasn't coated so I painted black with some high temp paint. Here's a pic.
Well a good cat-back system is in order if you dont already have something your're happy with. I use 3" pipe to monza mufflers (from Mid america) from the cat back on mine.
It's a nice rumble but I like it louder than some do. To my ears it's perfect. it only has mild interior resonance at a couple different RPM's. It's a beast at WOT but fairly tame on highway.
