Recently 6 months ago, I flushed & filled the radiator and replaced all the hoses.
including the heater hoses.I THOUGHT!!!! Yesterday at midnight in my driveway, after coming home from work, the unmistakeable smell of antifreeze filled the air.
On my 85 there are 2 hoses that come from the heater core to 2
metal pipes and onto the radiator. On the top pipe is a little rubber
cap covering an inlet. It's called a bypass cap(looks like a tire valve
cap) costs $2.19 and was pissing coolant (was torn). Just a friendly
reminder for my fellow Vette lovers! p.s. Why is that there G.M.?
Anybody on the forum know?
I need to see a picture... that piece isn't there on bastet44's 87 coupe... however, there is a small rubber and metal line that attaches to the back of the intake.

My 85 has that same cap. It was capped from the factory, since the 85 does not have any coolant passage in the back of the intake base.
That exact same thing on mine blew out, I made it home using a bic pen cap, with the end of the bic pen cut off and jammed in the cap (because the pen cap has holes in it) That stayed on.
Now I have a pipe plug and a short length of hose clamped to it.
I'm thinking it's an 85 only "bonus" I'm sorry I haven't a camera to post a pic.I'd hope my description was good enough Bogus.Glad I'm not the only one C.C.
