has anyone put on the mini ram intake? is it worth it? do you really get the advertised power gains? and any additional modifacation? this would be for and 86'. just wondering!
read the other post about which air intake to use, whats a mini ram anyway i hope to god its not a fan thing that u stick in the intake and operate with a switch
I asked this question a couple weeks ago for my 86 and was basicly told that the super ram would be better for our application because the mini is more for high rpms where as the super ram is better for torque.

Nope the Miniram is made by TPiS and is a design like the LT1 intake manifold but for the L98..
Do a search there have been many debates and info on both intakes.
I have a miniram on my 89 and have been very happy withthe performance of it with a cam and heads matched to the intake.
will you get the advertised HP with just the intake.. No
I love the Mini Ram. Especially if your going with a stroker or larger displacement. I went with both a larger displacement and a blower. I get a rush everytime I take it for a ride.
I installed the mini-ram a month ago and was surprized at the outcome. I blew the head gasket at the rear of the intake and had the MR sitting here anticipating a 383 project this winter. Figured as long as I have to pull the intake I might as well install the MR. My expectations were that I would increase HP slightly and not lose too much torque. WRONG!
While I was successful in moving the HP delivery further up the RPM range, I LOST 7HP and 52FPTQ. I understand that the MR needs to have heads & cam to realize all of it's potential, but I was surprised that I went backwards.
I still have faith or at least hope for the MR, and am anxious to see what happens when I get my 383 built, but I would caution you that unless you are going to make other changes, you will not find any additional performance in the MR.
