Default looking to replace shocks, what else should I be replacing

Hey Everyone,
I have a 96 z51 with 90,000. My mech. has mentioned that I need to replace the shocks. I am just planning to put back on the same shocks. While he has the wheels off and things apart, if there anything else in the suspenion area I should be replacing. Someone mentioned to me the struts probabily need to be changed. How often do they need to be replaced? How much should that cost just so I have an idea if that is something I should be doing.
Thanks for the help.

Replacing the shocks is straight forward. It's not a case of "while you're in there".

The car does not have struts. It has a traverse leaf spring front/rear. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the correction. I am still learning about cars as I am going. Much of what I hear is from friends who obviously don't know much about my car.
Good to hear it is an easy job.

Best way to learn is to get a factory service manual from ebay or Helms and do a little light reading. It is a facinating book but takes a little bit of time to read. I can't wait to get to the end

FYI, the rear wheel spindle rod is sometimes called a "strut", but only the bushings in it ever need replacing, and then only rarely.

The term 'strut' usually refers to a MacPherson strut, which no Corvette has.
