Alright, so whenever I am at about 1/3 tank and take a hard turn the fuel is cut to the car..I understand this to be a sloshing problem in the fuel tank...here is the idea....When I used to race superbikes we had to put this foam material (availalbe at Summit Racing) in any non-production tank, for any number of reasons - the main being- running the least amount of fuel on a bike with the fuel pickup on the left side will make the bike fuel starve when you lean to the right, giving you the false sensation of "running out of gas"....
So, I know it would take a lot of this "foam" to fill the gas tank, which it supposedly doesnt displace any fuel as it is not dense...but will it work and has anyone tried this? On racebikes, obviously, they arent used as daily drivers, so i need to find out about breakdown of the material first, but if someone else has already done it......?
My car does this pretty bad as well. Good idea, but how would you get it in the tank. I'm assuming it would need to take an aproximate shape of the tank.
Interesting idea.
Does the product get injected into the fuel tank and then expends?
If it does, would you really need to "fill" the gas tank, or would the bottom 8-12" do the trick? (Should work as long as the stuff does not float.
The only other concern would be that you probably would kiss your fuel gauge good bye.
You said you used the stuff on bikes, did it break down with time?
Fred
no didnt break down , but we didnt store the bikes with fuel in them....as for getting it in the tank, I struggled with that one for a while too...then figured it out......cut it into small squares and shove it in the fuel neck...that is how we got it in the fuel cells! ;-)
I don't believe you need to do this to fix the slosh problem. I had the same symptom until the fuel pump was replaced/upgraded. It is not difficult to pull out the fuel pump in the C4. I highly recommend you pull it and inspect the pump and sock/strainer and all interconnections.
