Default Clogged Main Cat...

I have a '90 L98 and have been looking for replacement front y and main cat.

From Ecklers they list the following piece:

1986-91 DynoMax Front Y-Pipe With 3 Way Oxidation Catalytic Converter System
Part# 34198

http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?d...0LMNVQGVTJ27C2

...has anyone installed this?

Anyone with recommendations on main cat would be appreciated. I'm gonna delete the pre cats from my car but don't want to switch out to headers (thanks to good ole Peoples Republic of California).

Andy...
what's happening...this is my alternative way of calling you!

I'll give exotic muscle a call...I like the look of they're coated headers...if I wasn't in CA, this is the way I would be going with this part of the project.

I've got a contact that Ron used for his car too.

What CAT should I get will it make a hill of beans if I go with a oxidation cat versus a hi flow cat?

hi-flow catS. Get all 3.

If the main is toast, I cannot beleive the pups are good, and you must keep those pigs.

Yea, the shop that Ron got his exhaust from sounds real upstanding! Performance Peddler, I think they are called.

Good pipes and high flows cats will free upwards of 30hp from the L98 exhaust system.

If your main cat is clogged then the others probably are too. When it happened to mine I just took them to my exhaust guy and told him to take them all off and replace it with one high po three way. Works great and sounds great. Especially since the mufflers are gone. All for $250. By the way, we don't have emissions testing in my county.

I called Performance Peddler, very pleasant experience. I told him what I needed and he threw the California caution at me "the non pre-cat pipe can't be sold for polution controlled vehicles." No problem, I can live with not polluting as much on startup for the time being...

I'm going with the Carsound/Magnaflow main cat and front Y w/pre-cats.

Andy...I'm getting close!
