Default Brake rotors

Hi all. I won a set of Baer Brakes front rotors. My question is what year Vettes use the same rotors? I havent bought my vette yet, but soon, very soon will. I just want to go ahead and get the rotors. So, my question is what year C4s use the same rotors? Or do all C4s use the same front rotors?

Thanks

Big Lou

88-96 would be the only ones those bolt to, not 84-87.

And I'm not sure exactly what else might be needed.

Beginning in 1988 the standard front rotors were 12" in diameter and the heavy duty J55 front rotors were 13" in diameter. 1996 C4's had the 13" front rotors as standard.

You can upgrade the standard brakes to the J55 brakes by installing the correct caliper mounting brackets.

Actually the J55 became standard in '95. If you're getting the rotors for free it might be worth it to get the 13". This way if you buy a 95-96 you can bolt them right on. Otherwise if you get a 88-94 with the 12" rotors you just need the J55 calipers and brackets to upgrade to the 13" brakes.

Is that all that's needed to do the J55 upgrade--just the 13" rotor and new caliper mounting brackets?

Whoops, looks like Admiral94 already answered my question--J55 had different calipers.

The J55 rotors were thicker IIRC. And thanks for the correction on the year 13" rotors became standard. CRS set in after the 4th beer and I wasn't sure about the year of the change

My 13" rotors on the 89 are the same thickness as the 12s, as are the brake pads. The 12" caliper will bolt onto the J55 caliper bracket. Granted, the J55 Calipers are stronger, but they will interchange. Several of the aftermarket places list the same pad for the 12 and 13" brakes. Seems the Bendix pads are MDk 413, that may be the back #.
