I think weather conditions and altitude play a huge part in the variation of times here. As mentioned earlier in the thread it appears that the west coast may mot see a whole lot of great racing weather. Here on the east coast, while we see pretty warm weather in the summer, we get some great air in the spring and fall, not to mention Etown Raceway is at almost sea-level if I recall correctly. These are the times of year when people notch their best runs. When my L98 was bone stock down to the Gatorbacks and paper filter it ran 13.95 at 99 mph and yes it was on one of those extroadinary mine shaft air days. The car would run 14.3 or so in the heat of the summer. So if you're at higher elevations or don't see the mine shaft air that we sometimes see here I don't doubt that your L98s never see better than high 14s or so.

I thought the 85s had a much higher stall converter than later years. If true that could be worth a few tenths at least. Now I might be really going out on a limb here but I remember reading something somewhere over the years that some 85s accidently left the factory with higher compression than what they were supposed to be.And I would think that Car and driver or who ever would surely end up with one of these cars.Accidently of course.

We ran @ LACR this weekend, during a heat wave in the desert.

I ran a 14.0 @ 100mph

This translates, according to http://www.lacr.net/week.html, to 13.58 @ 103mph

Not bad seeing I've never had so much as the valve covers off, it's got 120k on the odo, and I just pulled it out of 7month storage.

My best R/T was a .006

My R/T got me a by-run in the 1st round, so I have a nice little trophy sitting on my desk now
