Has anyone installed the direct ignition systems on there car yet? I am starting to see them more and more and I wonder if they work and put out the same spark. Looks like it could be a good replacement for the troublesum optispark. Thanks in advance for any info.
i am currently replacing my opti and i have every reason to belive it is original(125000) i am going to install tomorrow night the new oem opti and delco wp. i don't really think opti is problematic, i do think it is PITA to swap out. i got my oem opti new from gm dealer for around 380. i'll do the sealing thing with rtv. plus i like original stuff. 300 hp is plenty for my dd.

That's not an Opti-Spark replacement, it is a cap-and-rotor for the Opti-Spark.
I just installed a Dynaspark and am very happy. As far as I know there are 2 things to remember:
- There is no "replacement" for the Opti. Even the Dynaspark is a reengineered Opti but it works and is waterproof.
- The Direct Ignition units from LTCC and Delteq still require a properly working Opti to function. They get their signals from the Opti making them little more than expensive, glorified coil packs.
The bottom line is the LT1/4 will not run without a properly functioning Opti.

yup, i like the way you put it: " I like original stuff "
now, if you have deep pockets, you can go with the DynaSpark version of the OptiSpark....They cleaned up the weaker points of the AC Delco Opti....
I have the delteq it was worth every cent, i spent about $400 and the car felt 10x stronger and smoother http://photobucket.com/albums/y126/e...orvette003.jpg
and FYI the opti system was just replaced by previous owner so its not like i had a old opti and the difference was age
