In Bogus's thread about his car stopping on him, someone mentioned that an aging battery can cause all sorts of drivability issues as well as problems for trying to troubleshoot any PCM equipped car.
What's up with this? If the battery starts the car okay (cranks strong), but is three years old, is it still possible that due to age it could be fluctuating the current to the PCM enough to mess with the PCM's normal operation?
This may be an ignorant question... ...I was just wondering...
If you can crank the engine the battery is in good enough condition to run the car properly. A very unusual condition where you have an intermittent intercell connector that was good enough for a crank but then opens after the engine runs could cause the engine to run poorly due to the variations in alternator voltage since its voltage regulator cannot react instantly to sudden changes in load current.
