My battery on my 91 Vette died, I had it jump started and now my stereo is acting crazy. The display just flickers and the sound will sometimes not turnoff, you can't tune the radio or play a CD.
Because the battery was so low the radio may just be confused. Disconnect power from the radio, both wires, there is a constant 12 volts for memory and there is an ignition 12 volts. Leave power off for about 1 minute and then reconnect. This will hopefully fix the problem. If this doesn't work then go with the other threads that suggested the repair shop. I do really think it is just confused. It's cheaper to try resetting the power than to send it out to find out it was just a power glitch.
Good luck,
Woody
That’s rite!!!
Good idea!!
I had the same problem
I removed the battery cable, and then reinstalled it.
Everything was fine after that!!!
The funny thing about my car manual.
It says, “Always remove the battery connections before servicing”.
I installed a battery quick disconnect after that.
