I noticed accel has a bad reputation regarding their injectors, fp regulators and ignition stuff. I have been very lucky overall with their stuff. My regulator is 14 years old and still works fine with no leakage. Go figure.

Default Washed out Cylinders

I have a 59 Vette The ening was rebuilt about 3000 miles ago It has started spitting oil out of the spout. It runs perfectly Does not over heat. the builder of the engine is saying that the Carter 4 barrel carbs are to blame I replaced the Carters with a single Edelbrock about 1500 miles ago. I think the builder is trying to get out of the warrenty. Does anybody have any thoughts on this?
Thanks

I was wondering if I washed out the piston rings by having a bad fpr? I had the car running at idle for about 30 mins for a few days but the car wasn't driven. I did drain the oil out and there was gas in it and the plugs were also a little wet with gas. I found out the fpr was bad, so is it possible the piston rings are damaged from this?

Possible? Yes. Likely? No. Why don't you do a compression test and find out, rather than asking a bunch of people who can't possibly know?

This thread is over 10 years old, BTW.

Cars are all the same fuel regulator bad it fills up the motor with fuel and locks it up the motor ,if you manage to start it then you will bend the rods and break rings ,if you drained the oil and changed the regulator then you should be ok if the motor starts and runs without a knock ,bottom line.

That would be QUITE a leaking regulator. Possible? Maybe. Likely? No.
