Not a Vette but my friends Honda trans has seen better days and felt like it was on its way out.Against my better judgment I agreed to change the fluid. All I can say is the car shifts smooth and up and down as its supposed to. Big difference from before. I cant say if any trans fluid would make this much of a difference but I can say I have never seen such a difference with just a fluid change.I cant wait to try it in my Vette.

I drive for the U.S. Postal Service, & I don`t think most people know it, but 99.99% of all postal vehicles from tractor trailer units right down to the LLV ( gvt jargon for long life vehicle-- the little boxy truck that delivers your mail ) are all equipped with automatic transmissions. Anyway, our tractors are Mack units, & they have stickers all over them that specifies " Use only Mobil 1 trans fluid in this unit ". If its good enough for Uncle Sam, its good enough for me. These trucks see severe use, & we have two `96 models with well over 100k, & have never had any troubles with the transmissions.
I used Mobile 1 in my 700r4 that ran great behind my 406 and 434. I believe it was very good stuff. When I got my Rossler T350, Carl at Rosslers recommended B&M Trick Shift, which is just another synthetic brand.
I'll have to try that . I have a 2000 Acura RL that the ball and chain drives. 100k miles, the fluid doesn't look pretty. Want to put off a trans as long as possible!
You might want to do a little reading up on the Honda boards. One of the primary causes of Honda/Acura AT death is using any ATF other than genuine Honda.
On the other hand, one of the fixes for varnish deposits in a Honda AT is to fill it with type F ATF, which has high detergent content, and run it _briefly_ then thoroughly reflush with Honda ATF. So you may be experiencing improvements due to similar detergent action from the Mobil ATF.
I've had two Acura ATs with over 200k miles. Most people don't get that far with them. The way to keep them alive is to use Honda ATF and change it often.

I'll keep that in mind I bought it with 91k and shifted perfect. I changed it at 93k just to do it, and the fluid was a tad brown
Still shifts good, just don't want to find out what a replacement costs the hard way.

I purchased a new honda pilot. I noticed in the owners manual they recommend to change the fluid by draining the pan, refill, run, drain pan, refill, run, and one more time drain, refill. They caution to use honda only fluid. Well I figured this was manufacture hype.
Anyways I ask my friend, who has been rebuilding transmissions for over 25 years and he said to stay with the honda fluid. They see troubles out of the other fluids even when using them with the additives that some company makes that is supposed to make the fluid compatable with the honda fluid.
I use the mobil 1 fluid in my corvette and my ford van and it seems fine in those. IMO the big advantage to it is the heat resistance of the synthetic fluid.
That is the worst stuff you can put in your trans. It is only rebottled Ford ATF.
The Honda fluid should only be used for Honda transmissions. Something to do with additives and viscosity designed for them.
Not sure if your comment is specific to Honda....and if so its probably warranted.
However, I trust that Rossler - who told me specifically that B&M trick was a GOOD brand to use and has transmissions in some of the fastest cars on the planet is giving good advice. Carl is VERY adoment about putting out GREAT trannies and his results speak for themselves. Just as I preach - results, I listen to those that get them in other areas.
He also added that while Mobile1 is a GREAT fluid for wear resistance, you have to watch cause it almost lubricates TOO good. He said that all the trannies he has refreshed showed VERY little wear, but you could see that the clutchs showed "burn" marks cause of the slipping - too much lubrication. He said these were in trannies ranging from 400rwhp to 2000hp.
its one of those things...pick you poison and base it on what you think it right....

It's possible the problem was with the filter and the fluid didn't have anything to do with it too. My Dodge Durango was shifting funny till I changed the fluid and filter. Didn't even flush it. Shifted good as new after and I didn't use anything special.
