Gas Gauge Problem

Default Gas Gauge Problem

Just started to have problems with my 93, the gas gauge reads full to 3/4 full and I know that I put over 200 miles on it since last fill up, and ideas what wrong.

My first guess would be your sender or sender plate connections are the culprit....Easy fix either way

I believe theres a relay of some sort in the dash as well as the sending unit itself (in the tank) that control this.

My guess would be sending unit. The wires in teh tank tend to corrode over time which often messes it up.

The sending unit is pretty expensive actually. Do yourself a favor and DON'T think about taking it in to a shop. Do it yourself. This is one of teh easiest things to get to on a C4. If you have any mechanical ability, you can do it and save lots of $$$$

I just replaced mine, and, like the tip said, it was around $300 for the part.

NAPA also sells a wiring kit (which they usually push with the new pump for around $8.00 which will have an assortment of wire and connectors if you need it for the repair.
