cooling temp reading low.
Hi, Can anybody point me in the right direction please? On my 86 vette I have a constant low cooling temp reading on the dash readout. As i can get a coolant temp reading of the engine thru my scanner, am i right in thinking it is the guage sensor in the front of the inlet manifold that might be faulty? Is there any way of checking this or the wiring to the dash to pin point the problem. Also am i correct that there is a seperate sensor for the ecm to read temps and a seperate one for the dash reading?

On my 87 the sensor that works the guage is in the pass side cyl head. It is located between the #6 and 8 cylinders and has a single wire connector on it. I believe your car is the same. Check to see if this wire fell off or broke. The sensor is about $20 if needed.

Same here, too. Good news is that since the ecm's sensor is still giving a reading, the fans will still kick on, it'll go into closed loop and everything else except the dash reading. Mine did it too, just had to replace the connector on the wire.
