Default Oil Leak

So I have a stinkin oil leak which is coming from between the timing cover and the pan on my 90. Can you drop the pan without lifting the motor up to replace the 1 piece rubber gasket?
I plan to do this right so no RTV shortcuts.

First of all make darn well sure that is where your oil leak is coming from. Dropping and reinstalling the pan on my 90 Vert was such a PITA that I highly recommend you know without a doubt before you start.

I could not drop the pan without lifting the engine due to the crankshaft journals extending deep into the pan and the car's frame not allowing the pan to drop down far enough to clear them. Mine also had a brace I had to remove but if yours is not a vert I don't know if that would be your case as well. Take your time and label everything you remove as it. Certain length and style fasteners go in specific locations to attach various lines. A minute taken to label something will save a ton of frustation in the end.

I also recommend you replace the motor mounts while you are that far into disassembly. It will take a little time but I figured with 15 years of heat and a heavy foot it couldn't hurt. I wanted to fix any possible problems before they happened while I was in the neighborhood.

Good luck. Just remember you are having fun. Right?
