Was a code 34, now a thirty three AGH!
Okay, got a code 34 over the weekend, this has happened before and always turned out to be a bad MAF Power relay.
This time test showed power relay to be OK, book says MAF sensor.
Replaced MAF sensor, now getting code 33!
I have gotten code 33 before, but only when I disconnected the MAF as part of code 34 diagnostics.
Diagnostics for code 33 are more than I can do tonight and I was planning on leaving for CI VI very early tomorrow AM
I packed some tools and my scanner, I am going to try driving it in the AM and get all the way to BG. If I can't figure it out. Gorden K will be there and He can help
I don't see any problems driving with code 33. do you? I have driven hundreds of miles with a 34 before

I have driven hundreds of miles on a 34 before. That's annoying in as much as torgue converter is constantly locking and un locking with the slightest change in gas pedal pressure...but other than the service engine light, it feels like it is driving normally
I have an 88 that had code 33 replaced the relays three times, the code would go away for a short time. Finally replaced the Maf sensor, that lasted a week before the code appeared agian. Last thing replaced was the ECM and that seems to have been my problem. Its been 6 months now and no more code. I believe it is eliminate by process and a chunk of change.
You may have to replace the sensor that located near the firewall. It has one wire route to the back of the distributor and the it is attach to the pass. exhaust manifold. Or the sensor on top of the thermostat housing.
