Default Is there any trick

for removeing the dowel pins on the 89 block? On one side of the engine both pins came out with the head. The other side one stayed in the block and I thought it would pull right out. Well it didn't and now it's messed up so it will have to come out. Any ideas please.

You can try spraying it with a penetrating fluid, then a pair of vice grips set as tightly as you can manage.

Turn the dowel side to side to loosen it. The it should pull out.

If still no good, you can try using a punch to dimple it on the top, then drill through the center.

Hope this helps.

I usually just smack em through. They drop into the block and easily fall out the freeze plug hole. Then I throw in 4 new ones.
