Default Replacing Shocks: Easy? Hard?

Just looking for some realistic advice about how easy or hard it is to replace the shocks on a C4...

I will be doing it for the second time within the next two weeks. The front shocks are very easy. The simply unbolt and you slide in the new. Use your jack to raise the suspension so you can get the top nut started easily.

The rears were a little more involved since you have to remove the upper mounting plate and then break free the lower connection bar. Overall, it is very easy. Just take your time and make sure the car is supported on good jack stands. Do one wheel at a time.

Good luck,
Dino

With the exception of having to remove the rear wheels and tires, it's one of the easiest things to do on a C4. The fronts can be changed by simply raising the hood to access the bolts. The wheels/tires should come off to access the upper rear bolts/nuts though.

The torque specs for the bolts/nuts depends on the years of the car - they vary a little. So be sure to check that out.

Once you take a look at what has to be done, you'll see how easy it really is.

Got to love that clamshell hood

Just hit the bolts with some penetrating oil before hand.

Dino, I just installed a set of KYBs several months ago and I didn't have to remove anything other than the shocks; no mounting plate or lower connection bar.

Just four lower front bolts (two on each side), two upper bolts/nuts front top. Then for the rear, one bolt/nut at the top and another bolt/nut at the bottom on each side. That's all.

If you had to remove other things, then the 89 must be different from my 86.

Can I assume that other than the electrical connector on the shocks that the Z07 suspension shocks are just as easy?
