I have the transmission out to replace the clutch and to install a short throw shifter. The pin in the shift linkage has been hammered into place and not moving. The pin appears to have been forced in and peaned (SP) over making the hammer through imposible. I am considering drilling out the pin. Any thoughs? Thanks
Been there done that. I was able to use small punch with the shifter pushed away from the trany (Left looking from the back to the front) and smack it out from the top. I cut the straps on the boots and slid the top and bottom boot back then I was able to get it out. I would think ZF Doc should have an extra pin if you need one www.zfdoc.com
I was able to just file my pin back into shape.
Before drilling If you have a drelil and can cut it flush it should knock up and out once you removed the mushromed part. Goos luck

The good thing is you have the transmission out. Imagine trying to do this in the car.

The smack it out from the top worked very well. Two hits and I could remove the pin with a visegrip. I was even able to save the pin for reuse. Thanks for the help.
