Window switch circuit relay problem?
On to my issue:
I thought I had bad motors on both left/rigth window regulators so I purchased new ones from ecklers. After removing the right regulator I realized that the motor was rivet-bolted to the regulator and I have no idea on how to get those off without drilling them out. In my frustration, I asked a buddy of mine if he had ever replaced the motors and in return he began to ask a few questions about my windows. He asked me to test each motor (the original ones). So I wired each one up to the car's battery and low and behold they both still worked. The regulators would go up and down pending on how I connected the +/- feeds to the motor.
So this means my motors and regulators are working fine and that I have a switch problem somewhere. My friend recalls seeing an article about how if one switch (drivers side?) goes bad both windows won't work, but if the other switch (passenger side?) goes bad then one window will continue to work while the other won't. Can anyone comment on the wiring of the power window circuits?
If I recall correctly, both windows stopped working at about the same time and I do recall finding it odd that both window motors would fail within a week of each other. Is it possible to repair the power window switches? The drivers side seems more complicated (a new one costs $150) while the passenger side looks pretty simple (a new one costs $50).
Anyone recommend what type of drill bit to use when drilling out the river-bolts that connect the motor to the regulator?
