Default installing CS-144 alternator into '84 vette

i read a tech tip and decided to upgrade to a cs-144 because my stock alternator is failing again(after only a few months). anyway, i picked up a cs-144 and a new plug to attach to my harness.
here's my problem: the original alternator connector was cut off, so i am left with just the red and black wire coming from the wiring harness. here is a picture of the harness repair plug i received to go with the new cs-144. i was just curious if anyone knew where i should attach the black wire from the harness to on this repair plug.

obviously red goes to red wire, but i am not sure where the black wire goes. there are 3 other wires on this plug, i am not sure which one to go to. also, the repair plug that i received is slightly different from the one pictured. it has the big red wire, two small brown wires, and a slightly larger gray wire instead of the third brown wire pictured. i assume the black wire goes to the gray one, but i want to make sure.
i have emailed the company, but they have not yet gotten back to me.
but i'm sure if anyone would know, it would be one of the guys on this forum. thanks for any help!

I did this upgrade in my 85. I used the a/c delco adapter listed in the tech tip. There a resistor in one of the lines of the adapter.

so bluevette you are saying i need that adaptor anyway because of the resistor? i wish this company would get back to me, they took a month to ship, it'd be nice if they did something in a timely matter...

Yes. You need the original alternator connector to plug into the adapter.
