After all of the recent threads depicting problems with certain businesses within the C4 section I would like to personally thank (and highly recommend) Delteq. J.C. Hyde and crew went above and beyond what is usually expected of a motorsports vendor to address and fix a problem that may not have even been of their own doing. I recently installed a customer-supplied Delteq Opti-direct system on a 92 396" DFI controlled Vette; it ran but soon stopped. We had been having a multitude of problems with this particular car, mostly stemming from the ECU, and this was just one more problem that cropped up in an already frustrating situation. The coils had stopped firing completely and I ran all of the diagnostics that Delteq recommended with no success; at this point they simply replaced the coils and the "opti-box" and next day aired them to me, no questions asked. The car is now running and I just spoke to J.C. who told me: A) that some of the components in the unit I sent back were not Delteq's, B) that it DID work... So, this may not have even been their problem but they went WAAYY above and beyond what is necessary to assist us and for that they will get my hearty recommendation. I DO NOT give that out lightly!! Anyone who knows me well knows I don't mince words and if a product or a vendor is a peice of $h!t I'll tell you... Well, Delteq is good people, I would appreciate other forum members support of this company.

Pete was just as good to me when I was trouble shooting my system, They asked me to cut my existing harness to trouble shoot and sent me a new one no questions asked. He spent probably three hours on the phone with me in all and the problem turned out to be a bad Opti, and all he said was he was glad the problem was fixed. I had a problem that was vary strange it had a dead miss at 3800 RPM's, ran great at 3700 and above 4K. These guys are top notch
I decided to do a non-standard Delteq install and needed some hard-to-get connectors.
I got them from Pete with no problem.
He also assisted me with other aspects of my non-standard design -- if you think about it, it really wasn't reguired.
Ok, don't flame me here please. But, why install a Delteq when you still have to use the same POS opti? Seems like the perfect world would be a Delteq and a Dynaspark combo?

Thanks for the feedback,

This is NOT a flame! I'm running a Delteq with the same POS opti that got wet from a hose blowout (my fault there, should have changed the hoses last winter). I went with the Delteq mainly because I wanted an easy fix to get back on the road in short order. In a perfect world, I'd have a Dynaspark on there already, but until the optical side fails I'm going to save some miles on the Visa and keep driving in ignorant bliss.
Delteq's support with my shop on the Delteq install in my 396 was first class. They returned calls within an hour. Took out the MSD also and picked up 20 RWHP above 6200 RPM's. No failures at 6800 RPM's like before at the track.
One more time on the Opti:
1) add washers or spacers on the opti cover screws to increase the space between the cover and inside rotor to prevent banging and vibration problems.
2). Loctite the rotor screws so the banging and vibration will not cause them to come loose.
You have to realize that the component that is still in use in the POS Opti is the optical eye trigger itself; which is the least failure prone part in the entire thing. Essentially it's waterproof and doesn't shatter either like the rotor does... So, Delteq has essentially eliminated those parts that would be most likely to fail and used the one part that almost never fails. Good system...Wanna eliminate it completely you can probably rig it up to run off a hall-effect or a crank-trigger. But Delteq is first rate and I'll be recommending them in the future.

I was the first Vette that got a Delteq unit and I have never delt with a company that has better customer service. So from the very beginning they were great.
They have been very very helpful in t-shooting my problems that ended up not being their product at all.
