First take the tailights out. To do this you have to take your license plate out and reach through to the back of the taillights. There are two 10mm bolts holding each taillight in. Once all 4 taillights are out then
you can look in and see either 5 or 6 nuts along each side of the bumper, take these out next. Take the rear tire off and the wheelwell to get to the bolts that run along the sides just above the marker lights. Once these are out then you have eight 7mm screws along the top of the bumper. Two of these you can get to by taking the gas filler lid off and the inner panel, the rest you more or less have to feel your way around. After all this the bumper is ready to come off. Are you replacing the bumper with another one? If so, I'll tell you what I did. I took a razor knife and slit the bumper from bottom left to bottom right. Then you can see what you're doing and putting the new bumper on is much easier when you know what your working on.
Its a real PITA and many times, the nuts are rusted and break off when trying to remove them. This is common where the bumper bolts to the rear quarters and where the bumper bolts to the side of the quarter panels.I wish GM used some form of anti seize when installing the nuts.
