TECH 1/2 and OTC Scanner info.
There are a ton of different used scaners on ebay. Can some one do a snopsis on what to look for and what will work on what years?
I bought an OTC 2000 of ebay for $10.00 just for the cables, never thought I would get it for that bid. Added shipping it was less than $50.00 total.

What can be upgraded to what?
A summary of what cartrages and cables to look for and what years can be scaned would sure be appreciated by us DIY folks. Tom Wong you use this stuff daily what works. Sure would be a lot cheaper than trying to get a old laptop and Diacom.
If you can expand into the OBDII stuff that would be appreciated too. Once we get a good summary it would make a good sticky.

Cheaper than an old laptop? NAh!
I was using my *new* laptop, with some USB to serial difficulties, then I bought a Toshiba 430CDT laptop on ebay, wiith windows95, 120mhz for $50.10 shipped to me. It works great! I can run WinALDL (free) or tunerproRT, and use an ALDL cable $3. I am not familiar with the tech tools, but TunerproRT is an excellent scanner.
