I have seen a lot of post bashing Spec Star over the past couple of years and would just like to say they where outstanding to me. I purchased a Stage Three set up from a second hand vendor when I built my 383 and had a vibration from day one. Not knowing what the problem was I purchased a stage Two set up from another forum member who didn’t like the SM conversion at a great price and pulled the trany to inspect the Spec set up. Well it turns out the roll pins where hitting the Clutch fork. I was past the date for warranty and gave Spec a call explaining my situation and they said send it in and let us have a look. They where outstanding on the phone and very understanding to say the least. In the end they sent me a brand new Clutch P/P TO bearing, Pilot bearing and Insert for my Fidanza FW. They stated the roll pin was probably a combination of my pivot ball being worn and the roll pins themselves being too high. I wish I had waited before re-installing my transmission but I had no idea they would come through the way they did. They owed me absolutely nothing because I was technically beyond the warranty period but yet they covered it 100 percent. I can tell you this my next clutch will be a Spec and they have gained a customer for life. I know they had some QA problems a while back but I believe they are resolved (Haven’t heard of a bad PP in couple of years).
