Default Questions on 383 Lt1

Not to my approvial, we are building a 383 for my 94 convertable. Supposedly pushing 400 + horses. What lbs Injectors should i use? Should i upgrade the fuel pump/ fuel pressure regulator? Any other stock parts that i should upgrade before puttin in the new motor, short of swapping out the weak dana 44's?

In all honestly i would rather have rather rebuilt the old motor maybe 30 over'd it, than do this, also, i know i am going to have to have the computer reprogrammed.......

Trust me on this one - you won't regret going to a 383. You can use the stock injectors if you aren't racing it all the time or you can goto 30lb ones if you are only in the 400's for HP.

You might want to upgrade the throttle body but it depends on how much HP you are making. What cam are you going with? What heads are you putting on it? These all play in to how much HP you will be making and what other things you might need to buy.

It does if you do what I said and ask the tuner who is tuning your car what injector they would like to see when they tune your car. This has been done over and over and over again do a search. Some say go small others say go large, I say go with what ever your tuner is going to tune the best with. THere are those running 10 seconds with 24# injectors and I have seen 42's on a cam only LT1 that tuned perfect.

The 44 is far from weak and will handle far more then what you are looking at so don't sweat the rear. The 44 is good into the 10's before you need to look at the rear, the 36 is not all that strong but the 44 is fairly stout.

well i do not want to race the car, well besides the occasionaly trip to the track once a month, i just need to get this car on the road, i was looking at the Lt4 hot cam. As for heads, we are getting the stock aluminum ones ported, cut,...etc.

The Hot Cam will be very mild in a 383. It isn't all that wild in a 350. It is very streetable and will be even more so in a 383. Don't expect huge HP numbers out of it but you should be very satisfied with the torque that it makes for you. The heads are where it really comes into play. Really good ported heads will make all the difference in the world. Badly ported heads can hurt you more than they help.

There are guys making 500 hp and still using 24# injectors. LT1s don't really need anything else unless you're going all out. The stock FPR will be fine too. You'll love the Hotcam for your purposes too. You should be well over 400 hp with the stroker and ported heads. I'm over that now and still have stock displacement. A stroker is in the works though!
