Default A/C Problems

Why would the A/C clutch continue to cycle on and off? The clutch engauges for about 5 seconds and then cycles off for about 10 seconds and then back on for 5 seconds

That sounds simple. Any idea on what type freon in a 96?

I believe r134a, look on the compressor should a label, or one somewhere around a/c stuff. I think they went from r12 around 1992 or 1993. Also could ask the dude at the auto parts store that sells freon.

1994 was the first year for R134a. A 12oz can sells for about $6. When buying the R134a I recommend buying a can that has sealer and tracer dye in it. This will help seal the system and help find the leak if it has one. Spend the money and get a hose kit that has the guage built in. This will help make sure you do not over or under fill your system. The port is on the passenger side next to the surge tank for the radiator.
