has anybody tried to fix there power seats . my driver seat won't come back up unless I push the button and pull up on the sesat at the same time. I know you can get them rebuilt .What I was woundering If anybody has rebuilt themself
A guy on here has done that but can't recall his name.
I thought about doing that but the distributor wanted a core in exchange for their rebuilt units so I didn't gamble on tearing into the track and screwing it up and sucking up the exchange price.
I rebuilt mine . Not too hard. Parts are available. Sounds like something is loose or broken that should be fairly obvious. I encourage you to take the seat bottom off (wire clip under front of cushion) and have a look.

Where did you get the parts, I'm all for taking them apart to do the repair myself, i just can't find where to source the parts.

Vette Magazine (I think) was starting a series on refurbishing C4 seats in their May issue. I think they were getting most of their parts from Mid America Motorworks.
Almost all of the Corvette Specialty stores have them, Mid America, Ecklers, TLD, Corvette Central, ZIP etc. I need to fix mine, it is either a dead motor or a wiring problem, at least on paper it is anyway.
Usually the plastic caps on the end of the worm gears crack. You see the lower left one in the pic. When this happens the gears jump making a grinding sound. GM should have made these parts in metal not plastic. I've thought about doing this service because I know it could be done for much cheaper than $199 exchanged.
I don't know of anyone that has made there own end caps. But if you can find replacement plastic ones that would be pointless as they will just break again. I was trying to get with a machinist to see if he could make a bunch as it shouldn't be to hard. Taking the seat tranmission assembly apart was easy, just break the pop rivets. The harder part was taking it off the power seat frame. It can be time consuming but since this always breaks and is expensive to replace, it's well worth doing yourself to save some money.
