Default 84 Mods?

I am thinking about buying an 84 corvette with 130k auto, in decent shape for 3k. I was thinking about adding some mods to it when or if i get it. How much HP would a eld alum intake and eld 600 cfm carb and decent headers and exhaust add to an 84 vette? What are some more mods with out going crazy on cost?

Does it still have the crossfire on it? Couple of guys here have some pretty good running ones. They can guide you

your like me....

put a 750 on, you'll probably need it in the future when you do a cam change.

use a performer, it'll fit fine.

I would recommend putting in a Comp XE 274H camshaft in as well, if you port the heads, or get some aftermarket units. (I would recommend the vortec heads)

If you put a performer, 750 carb, xe274 cam, port the heads, headers and exhaust you'll have WAAY over 400 ft. lbs. of torque and around 350 hp. it's THAT EASY.

Good luck!

Sorry to triple post, but you'll need a better tranny than that if you do all those mods I told you about. That engine will send that 700r4 to hell if you don't beef it up, or put something else in (zf6, t56, th400).
Also, you'll need a stall converter w./ a 274 cam, so if you don't want to use a stall, go one step lower with the cam, to a XE268. It'll work fine w./ a stock converter.
Your stock fuel pump should work fine for feeding the motor, but you'll need a return style fuel pressure regulator, Not to mention a new non computer controlled HEI distributor to make the spark happen.

Hope this helps! it really isn't that expensive to do in the end, and it'll be one fun, fast car! (I'm envious, the 84's handle gooood)

how many small things do you have to buy when going from crossfire to carb? I know you have to get kick down cable bracket, diffrent belts when you get rid of smog stuff, a good fuel reg, carb, intake, air filter, hei dist, and i think that is it?

there's nothing wrong with the crossfire set up if you spend some time learning to understand and tune it.

here's a great resource for keeping your crossfire alive;
