Default Stock Header Bolt Lenght?

I currently have Hooker shorties, and am looking at switching to some TPIS longtubes since I would be getting a good deal on a used set.
Only thing is the TPIS use stock bolts, which I no longer have. Anybody happen to know what lenght bolts will work?
Its been a while since I've had stock, but I don't think a 1" bolt will provide enought grip in the head with a 3/8" flange, plus the bolt flanges on those headers.

Need to find out what lenght I do need. I also want to make sure I get a set with Allen keys internal so I can actually tighten down #8 without driving myself nuts (went thru that already installing TPIS longtubes on my 85).

Thanks

Why can't you use the bolts used on the Hookers? The bolts that came with the Hookers were, in my opion, too short and they were 3/4". I used 1" allen socket head bolts. Is the TPIS header flange thicker than the Hooker flange? I measured the depth of the header bolt hole and ran a thread chaser them to make sure the 1" bolts didn't bottom out. I suggest you do the same. I, too, will be upgrading from Hooker Shorties to EM's LTs.

On an L98, the stock exhaust manifold flange thickness with the welded on spacers is 1 1/2", so they would probably need almost a 2" bolt to hold it. Don't know if your LT1 would be the same.

TPIS has those stock bolt standoffs welded on the flange, so that is another 3/8 - 1/2" of gap away from the threads on the head.

Also the bolts I have on the Hookers suck. Last owner installed them, but the bolts themselves are starting to corrode. So a new set would be in order for sure.

I just ordered 3 of the stock header bolts from Chris at Superior. I need the three with the stud head that mount the support braces and oil dipstick.

They do not come as a kit but can be bought in the individual quantity, 3 of the stud type and 9 of the cap end type. Amazingly, the price is less than you would pay in the hardware store. They must not be metric.

Call Chris at 800-728-8267. Say you are from the Corvetteforum. No Corvette tax on these, and still available from GM.

I use a crow's foot on my torque wrench to tighten them.
