Default P0100 MAF insufficient activity. '96

Before I tear into this has anyone seen this DTC pop up? (I searched to no avail) Apparently a 96 will use speed density if the MAF fails.

The DTC will clear until the motor is fired for the first time, it stalls. Then on the subsequent fire it uses speed density and runs like nothing is wrong. Pretty dam cool huh? Something to be said for OBDII.

Should be interesting to see what I find.

Your MAF is either disconnected or has failed. That is a good symptom of stalling on start up...

Yes the MAP makes for a good backup...

Ehh, it must have been from washing the motor again. It cleared and stayed cleared today after work. All is well again, self healing cars I guess.

Oh Good, yes it is not completely sealed there are little vents on mine...

If it happens again you can unplug it and drive it for a few days. It will run off the MAP, it will set a code of course being unplugged...
