87 Tranny Question...
I'm planning on having my 87 tranny (700R4) rebuilt ... I was looking around and this guy is selling an 86 tranny with goodies in it ... Could I fit the 86 tranny bolt for bolt or would I have to modify something?

If the 86 trans is stock with no upgrades, it will not handle the same amount of torque. The foward sprag and lo-roller clutch are smaller in the 86 version. There are quite a few small upgrades that the 87 has over the 86 as well. It will, if it is a vette trans, bolt up with no problems.

THANKS! ... I was told that 87+ handled more power ... I wanted to see if anyone had put an earlier year tranny and what results came out of it... this guy said he's performanced it up ... I'll prolly just rebuild it myself and go from there ... thanks again!
