Default Hard Brake Line Ends

On my 92 vette I was changing the brake hoses to stainless and the metal line fittings rounded out when removing them from the hose. How do you change these fittings and what tools are required? Looks like a double flare tool from the manual. Is it cheaper to get new hard lines and if so where do you get them?

To prevent rounding off the fittings, use an
appropriately sized flare nut wrench (link).
These wrenches look like double box-end wrenches
with one side cut open.

After the damage is done, it may be possible to cut
the existing fitting off with a mini tubing cutter, recover
or replace the existing fitting and reflare the tubing.
I am not familiar with the '92 and do not know
whether conventional double-flares are used or not.

The catch is whether there is enough tubing to make
a cut and still reach the brackets. If not, then it is
necessary to locate lengths of fabricated, DOT
approved brake tubing, bend them into shape and
replace the existing ones. Parts places like NAPA
are one source for these pre-fabbed hard lines.
Alternatively, one can buy DOT brake line tubing
& fittings to fabricate his own lines.

Do not skimp on the tubing. Do not fudge with
the fabrication. Lives, property, wealth and
emotional well-being are at stake. Get help
with the work or have it done at a reliable shop
if you do not have the experience and knowledge
to do this yourself.

Does anyone know if these are standard double flares?

I doubt it..on my '85 and I'm sure on your later model, as well as pretty much all late GM stuff they use a metric bubble flare. You can tell by looking at the hard line and the seat it goes into..a double or inverted flare will have a seat in the fitting and with a bubble flare it will be tapered into the fitting..not the hard line. I got my bubble flare kit from NAPA for like 100. or Snap On and most of the other tool guys sell them too...

Should be an inverted flare.
