I have searched the antenna threads. The power antenna on my 92 convertible stopped working last week - half-way up. I had routinely cleaned it, and I was able to manually move it up and down. I hear the relay click under the dash as normal, but the motor is making no noise.
I checked the fuses of course, and reached-up under the fender to see if a wire was loose but could not find a problem.
Do the motors on these die often, and are they difficult to replace? I found some threads on motor replacement. Anyone do this job on a 92 convertible? Thanks.
More than likely you've got a jammed section of nylon antenna mast inside the motor that's fouling it up. Check your fuse to make sure it's not blown.
I removed the motor on my '92 Coupe (chances are you saw the TechTip I wrote in the C4 section. You should be able to use those instructions to get your motor out, open it up, remove the offending bits of broken ribbon, then install a new mast from your local Chevy dealer.
If you find that the motor is dead or don't feel like taking apart the old one, look on ebay. I just replaced mine with a factory new one for about $93 with shipping. Good Luck!
