I have heard about this before but I just need to know if I need any special brackets or anything. I plan to get C5 brakes for the front of my 85' and I know what brackets, etc. is needed, what I need to know is if my front calipers, rotors, etc will bolt up to the rear of my car without any special parts. I plan to use a proportioning valve but I need more braking to the rear tires due to the larger tires in the back and the fact that they won't ever lockup. I'm also running an auto now so the parking brake isn't a big concern.
Thanks.
I have my fronts relocated to the rear on my '96 (see sig). It's not a straight swap, you have to replace the hub mount (which doubles as the brake mounting bracket) with a custom piece. I bought mine through Melrose T-Tops for $450 -- not cheap, but they were cheaper than anyone else I could find.
The C5 calipers don't have all that much more clamping force than your stock calipers, so your rear pressure will definitely need to be lowered quite a bit to balance the car out. You might be better off just leaving the stock rears on and just getting a new bias spring to put a little more pressure in the rears.
EDIT: Your '85 has a different caliper / bracket design than my '96, so those brackets probably won't work. I'd recommend calling Doug Rippie (www.dougrippie.com) or melrose T-Top (www.melroset-tops.com) and tell them what you're thinking to see if they have brackets for that year.
