Are Ceramic Pads worth the $'s? Which Vendor has the best price on them?

I just did the same project and went with Performance friction Z-rated pads (carbon metallic... about $65 per axle @ Autozone) with new rotors from Napa. So far so good.

I got ECB pads and they improved stopping tremendously. Before with NAPA pads, the car would not have any braking at all when they were cold. At the strip or pulling out of my driveway, the car was barely holdable at idle until they heated up.

I got the ECB greenstuff pads and what a difference.

Next best thing I did was replace the plastic booster with a metal one. The car has 10x better brakes than when it was stock form. Now you just barely touch them and it stopping.

I have run the EBC Greenstuff pads and they are a very good street/autocross pad and will even work for some track days. They have great cold bite and no real need to build up heat in them.

There is some dusting from these pads but nowhere near the dust like you see from Hawks! The material is part kevlar and they are very rotor-friendly.

The Tire Rack appears to have some sot of a close-out special as the prices are $25 per axle set!!

I am using Hawk pads myself and think they work great.

I don't have any complaints about the dust but then again these are my first aftermarket pads. I also have black GS rims but I am not sure if that helps the dust problem or hurts it.

I can certainly recommend the Hawk pads but I think I am going to try either the EBC or Performance fricition pads next time just for comparison.

Thanks for the replies.
The Pads listed on Tire Rack indicate the Ceramic Pads aren't recommended for heavy street use, or autocross use....that leads me to think they aren't worth the extra $'s.....they seem to be more related to the brake dust difference, and not to performance.

Can you give us some more info on the booster? What brand? Price? Where to get them from? Any tricks installing them? etc.

Thanks for your help

this may sound stupid, but do brake pads come 2 to a box or 4 pads to a box?

How easy/difficult is the installation? How much time did it take you?
