I thought that I had my idle problems solved but apparently not. I set the timing, replaced the Coolant Sensor, adjusted the TPS, and everything was running fine. Now that the summer weather is here the car idles at around 1,100 rpm. A few days ago when it was cooler outside it ran fine. Any ideas or recommendations?
Hi.
I have an 85 and had problems with the idle. High idle may very well be a vacuum leak. With a vacuum leak you also may have a cycling idle. I had vacuum leakage in the vacuum lines under the plenum and also the runners at where the runners are fixed to the intake manifold. I diagnosed it with some start gas. You might use propane to spray it over the runner/manifold. If the rpm increases then you have a leakage. Have you checked the vacuum lines to the purge in front of the car Black box on the left side in front of the wheel well.
