There is a company making new D44's for vettes, but I can't remember the name.
But if anyone is going for serious drag racing, solid axle is the only way to go, and yes it will still be a vette even without IRS.
Car Creations out of Simi Valley... It's not a billet piece but a much nicer cast unit with some extra beef. Not cheap though; I've talked to Paul about buying a couple of cases just haven't done it yet.

I spoke with Paul some time ago and he said that he really did not want the drag racers to buy his cases as they would break them and tell everyone that they are not worth the money. He said that although they did put a little more meat in the case they are by no means "Drag Race Ready"....The same goes for his new diff. cover brace, it's a little stronger.. but hardly a Ford 9". Actually, Dutchman does a Ford 9" IRS that would require a new top mounted diff. brace, but would work with your stock outer hubs/spindles and brakes.
curious.. what are the folks with Vipers and high HP Supras using? How different is their design? Seems like I hear about Supras having 800rwhp but I don't hear about them breaking rears? Maybe I'm just out of touch..
I wondered about that myself. I must say though, I have not seen a viper at a dragstrip that was a real serious racer. Most run high trap speeds but not low ets. Im not trying to take anything from them but it shouldnt be to hard to get low 10's or high 9's with a 488ci motor if traction was not a problem.

I emailed them but it looks like thay are on Vacation till July 5th and I really neeed to get the ball rolling. I don't even know if they have any built or if they provide any kind of warranty.
Ecklers has them ready to ship and provides a 3 year unlimited milage warranty so I may go with them if I hear nothing back sooner from car creations.

I'm going nuts without my car!
I know Paul has one complete full race D44 with a spool because they bought it (the spool) from me. They're not cheap but they work very well; Ron's (zr1products) are the same pieces and are very nice. He's also a super nice guy to work with.

Tranny Crossmember (no C-Beam)
Dana 60 IRS With CV Shafts instead of the half shafts.
Only thing is, what hubs would you run, or how would you modify the hubs to work with the cv's?
This way, you don't have the shearing force of the c-beam, have a REALLY strong rear end, and don't have the half shaft problems like crushing caps, etc.
I Dunno... that would be sweet if it was figured out how to make the dana 60 into a cv shaft irs that bolted into the batwings.
